Piney Lakes

We visited Piney Lakes on Saturday. It's 5 minutes drive from the house. As well as being a nature reserve the natural surroundings are broken by sculptures, which makes for a slightly more interesting walk, particularly for kids. There's also a separate play area for kids with seating and grass areas for picnics.

On Sunday we went to Curtin University Open day. There were various stalls, a mobile farmyard petting zoo, local radio stations, helicopter flights (although they were cancelled due to high winds when we were there) and of course plenty of advice and information for would-be students. Only a couple of photos from the Curtin University Open day but plenty from Piney Lakes as you'll see below.

Kaitlyn on the pirate ship.

Dad and Kaitlyn surrounded by paper bark trees. Glad it's not dark otherwise it would be a bit too "Blair Witch" for us.

Bat box. There were several at various points around the park.

Pelicans.

Chloe and Big Bird.

A steel bloke with 2 dogs. Neat!

Oink Oink.

Serpent sculpture.

Don't go into the woods at night or you're in for a big surprise!

One tiny part of the massive Curtin University, Bentley Campus.

It gives you wings apparently.

Granda's 60th

Back in Scotland the family are gathering for the big party. Granda's 60th. The old fart!

Shame we can't be there but we had our own little party. It was a nice day so we had a barbeque and a few drinks in the evening.

Chloe and Kaitlyn really missed Granda and made Dad dress up like him so they felt like he was there. It was a great evening.

Happy Birthday Granda.

Lots of Love,

The Watts in Aus!

5th August 2007

The Avon descent was on this weekend. Power boats, kayaks and canoes battle rapids and everything the rivers Avon and Swan can throw at them. See http://www.avondescent.com.au/

We were a bit late on getting off the starting blocks on Saturday so missed all the white water action and got a bit lost so missed the best of it.
Sunday was a different story. We were there with the camera crews at the finish line and saw some of the winners pull up. We didn't stay to see the stragglers or the presentations but instead went for a drive along Swan Valley, where we visited the Margaret river chocolate factory and a number of wineries. Hic, Hic! Delia discovered the wonders of dessert wine. Her sweet tooth is now stained with the sweet, Swan Valley dessert wines! Chloe fell in love with a red, open top Mustang while Delia fell in love with inflatable dump trucks. See the photos!

A good weekend had by all. Back to work/school/college tomorrow. JOY.

Delia's dump trucks

Burswood - We passed this place but it warrants a whole blog to itself. Watch this space. Google it if you want to find out more before I get to it.

One of the Avon descent finalists.

Chloe fell in love with this Mustang.
