Wave Rock and Hippo yawn

Wave rock is 350km east of Perth near a small town called Hyden. We stayed in Hyden on Saturday night and visited Wave rock and Hippo yawn on Sunday morning. Hyden is also 25km west of a vermin proof fence. If we thought it would be anything more than just a fence we would have gone for a look just to say we'd been to the Rabbit proof fence, recently featured in a book and a film.

Some boulders on top of Wave rock.

A small lizard on top of Wave rock. It was hard to get close to it but the new camera is higher resolution and has a better lens so it was possible to zoom in and crop the picture without losing too much detail. when the lizard decides it's time to go it stands up on its 2 back legs and runs off at an amazing speed.

Hippo yawn. Well named.

A salt water lake near Hyden. Long since dried up. Hyden gets 1/3 of the rainfall of Perth. Then again, surprisingly Perth has more rainfall than London.

Hot hot hot.

Make way for the robobus.

Dog cemetery near Corrigin. A bit spooky, especially if you've read Stephen King's book Pet Cemetery. Corrigin is also the current World record holder for "dog in a Ute". http://www.corrigin.wa.gov.au/doginaute don't ask me!!
